BROOKLYN CHILDREN’S MUSEUM: THE TRUE CULTURE OF NEW YORK

If you don’t know where to go with your kids, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum is the place for you. Read more about it in our article on brooklyn-future.

A gorgeous place for children and parents

The museum opened its doors in 1899. By the way, this is the first children’s museum in the country, and according to some sources, even the first in the world.

It is an interesting place for children of all ages. There are many self-guided and hands-on activities. The museum also hosts cultural events at different times of the year, and it is especially exciting on Chinese New Year and Halloween. The upstairs multifunctional space hosts alternating events, and the roof space is a great place to relax. The museum is small, you can walk around it completely in an hour, but it shows the real culture of New York.

There are three floors and several small additional sections. There is a playground for younger children, which includes a section for playing with water, areas for building with large blocks, a music section where you can bang on metal, a changing area, a book corner and a children’s area. They also showcase live animals and allow you to pet them.

There is an outdoor area on the top floor where various programs are held, a golf section and a playground. There is also a canteen where fresh food can be purchased.

There is an indoor area with a play kitchen and lounge on the 2nd floor of the building, an indoor ribbon playground for older children, and workshop rooms. There is an MTA bus on the ground floor and then a tunnel leading to various areas, including an African heritage area, a Caribbean dance area and a pizza making area. There is a steam room where you can catch plastic fish and 2 sandboxes.

There is a water laboratory and an area for babies and toddlers on the ground floor. Go down the rainbow tunnel to the mini-Brooklyn shops (role-play the borough’s retail culture), garden cork pit, swamp animal diorama (with real turtles) and around the corner to the beach sand pit, large canoe and a section on marine life.

And to top it all off, there’s a breastfeeding pod in the bathroom where moms can feed their babies and there’s an outlet to charge your phone.

The main feature of the museum is that you can touch, play, try, create and learn about the world. There are many places to play. This place is suitable for children of all ages. Everything is thought out with a deep understanding of child psychology.

There is also an interesting idea with stands and explanations. For example, “Why water flows down, not up”.

It’s worth noting that it’s a museum mixed with traditional museum attractions, such as nature and cultural exhibits. There is even an outdoor rooftop area with dinosaurs.

So this place is perfect for a school trip. A wide range of cultures is represented for children to learn about people from all over the world. Interactive learning and hands-on exhibits are made specifically for each child. A very good place for children to learn and for various activities. Very interesting and educational at the same time.
